Beautiful job Steven. Can't wait to get you home. Let me know when you will have a chance to Skype (if you can). I am not traveling until June 3 so the next two weeks should be pretty good to talk (somehow).

Hello Steve:

I hope you have a wonderful time in Italy. Clean the brain, absorb some culture and embellish in food and wine.

I ran across your Blog several months ago and there were things that hit a cord with me and the work I do. I am the President of a nonprofit organization called Global Village of Friends. WWW.GVFriends.com The primary purpose in connecting with you is an article you posted on children and chocolate.

Our international home base will be Belize. It is off the southern most shores that Columbus discovered chocolate and introduced it to the old world. I mention this because I am in the process of developing a cross cultural pen pal program via the Internet. I am working with the staff at Galan University to create a functional program. Presently we are developing a plan to link a classroom of students in Belize with students in New Orleans. The link cultural connection is the Kroel language influence and ties in both areas. In your area and southern Belize the link would be children and chocolate or more specific the bean.

GVF is planning to develop what we call Pueblos in Panama, Colombia, Brazil, and Tobago. Our first jump out of this hemisphere is Africa. I have been looking at South Africa and looking at Ghana and Senegal.

GVF has been in development for two years and we will officially launch the entire company in July. Belize remains our focus for 2012 as it will house our International Campus. So developing the Pueblos I mentioned will fall over the following two year schedule. However what we call outreach projects will begin this fall.

If this internet class room pen pal program makes sense to you please let me know. Our job is to take care of funding and program development. Such a program would require a level of Internet connection. However since you are Blogging I assume such is possible. I am based in Delaware and reaching out to Senator Chris Coons office for planning and support for our Africa expansion. Senator Coons is Chairman for African affairs with the Senate and greatly interested in specific project development.

I do realize you are tied with a US Government agency. We are not linked to any governmental agency or faith organization. We are educational and charity based. Our only mission is to build global friendships. Our mission is much as the Peace Corps. The difference is we do function as a corporation. We do create capital but we have no shareholders and all our profits are returned to support projects or expand our mission. Again our mission is to build global friendships.

My purpose in writing was to introduce myself and GVF. It is my hope there is something we may develop together from this correspondence. If the pen pal program makes sense I'd love to begin there and see what we can develop.

Wishing you the best!

Peace;

Jim Craig

Steve, sorry so long to reply. Ryan saw this blog when we were in Joplin last weekend. He read it to all of us at a Starbucks after we volunteered helping a father and son on their property.
I just read Waid's World........... and now I can see just how STRONG you are. Whenever I mention where you are and what you are doing people just have the most admiration of your work. I saw Ali McKillen today and she is yearning for Katie to get back in July. Keep up the good work.......... I see you keep doing different things and moving around a bit......... don't stay in one place too long.......... good idea!!

We will see you in 3 weeks from right now!!! Rock on!
